존경하는 심장판막질환포럼 및 대한심장혈관흉부외과학회 회원 여러분께,
심장판막질환포럼(Heart Valve Disease Forum, HVDF, valvegforum.org)은 판막 질환의 해부, 생리, 원인, 진단, 치료, 미래에 대한 최신 지견을 다양한 분야의 석학을 모시고 최상의 분위기에서 다루는 학회입니다. 1998년에 대동맥판막을 주제로 시작한 심장판막포럼은 어느덧 올해로 27회를 맞이하였습니다. 대한심장혈관흉부외과학회의 후원 하에 학회의 공식 행사로 주최해왔고, 2019년부터는 대한심장혈관흉부외과학회 산하 공식 학회로 인정받아 현재까지 안정적으로 운영되고 있습니다. 올해부터는 정관과 회원 규정 등을 정비하여 세계적 학회로 도약할 준비를 하고 있습니다. 올해 2026년에는 9월 10일(목)-11일(금), 양일간 서울 중구에 위치한 롯데호텔 서울 사파이어볼룸(3F) 및 에메랄드룸(2F)에서 "Restoring Harmony in Aortic Valve and Root Surgery"라는 주제와 슬로건으로 세브란스병원 이삭 교수가 조직위원장을, 이승현 교수가 학술위원장을 맡아 야심차게 준비하고 있습니다. 그동안 많은 주제가 다루어져 왔고, 올해에는 대동맥판막과 대동맥 근부의 기초부터 최신 트렌드까지 학술적, 체계적 고찰과 다양한 수술법과 치료법을 여러 분야 전문가들을 모시고 함께 토론하는 자리를 만들려고 합니다. 특히 올해에도 2023년부터 영광스럽게 함께 하게 된 미국흉부외과학회(The Society of Thoracic Surgeons, STS)와 공동개최를 4년째 연이어 하게 되어 관련 분야에 대한 세계최고수준의 석학들을 한자리에 모시고 최고의 국제학술대회로 준비하고 있습니다. STS의 헌신과 노고에 크게 감사드립니다. 현재 가장 hot하고, 외과의사의 통찰이 중요한 분야인 TAVI 등에 대한 고견을 듣는 자리를 마련하고, 판막 수술분야에서 치료가 어려운 hot topic에 관한 심도 있는 토론도 진행할 것입니다. 그동안 판막포럼을 주관해주신 존경하는 장병철 교수님, 안혁 교수님, 박표원 교수님, 이재원 교수님, 정남식 교수님, 송재관 교수님을 올해에도 정중히 모시고 학회를 진행할 것입니다. 앞으로도 심장판막질환포럼 학회는 주요 대형병원에서 조직위원장을 번갈아 맡고, 집행부가 학회의 재정적, 학술적 지원을 전담하는 형태로 진행될 것입니다. 올해 학회는 현장진행만으로 이루어지며(off-line), 2일간 학회 일정 전체에 대하여 필요시 동시 통역을 제공할 예정입니다. 아무쪼록 심장판막질환포럼이 판막질환의 진단과 치료 전반에 걸쳐 표준과 건강한 미래를 제시하는 세계적인 학회로 자리매김할 수 있도록 많은 회원들의 관심과 도움을 부탁드립니다. 마지막으로 어려운 시기에 필수의료의 최일선에서 큰 고생을 하고 계시는 회원 여러분께 고개 숙여 경의를 표합니다. 일상이 행복한 우리 모두의 멋진 미래를 기원합니다. 감사합니다.

Dear Esteemed Members of HVDF and the Korean Society for Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, The Heart Valve Disease Forum (HVDF, valvegforum.org) is a leading academic society that brings together leading experts from various fields to discuss the latest insights on the anatomy, physiology, causes, diagnosis, treatment, and future directions of valvular heart diseases in an exceptionally engaging academic environment. Established in 1998 with an initial focus on the aortic valve, the Heart Valve Disease Forum is now entering its 27th year. Sponsored by the Korean Society for Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, the forum has been hosted as an official event of the Society and, since 2019, has been formally recognized as an affiliated academic society. It has continued to grow and operate steadily since that time. This year, we are revising our bylaws and membership regulations to prepare for our leap forward as a world-class academic society. This year, in 2026, we are ambitiously preparing for the 2026 conference, which will be held on September 10th (Thu) and 11th (Fri) at the Sapphire Ballroom(3F) & Emerald Room(2F), LOTTE HOTEL SEOUL, in Jung-gu, Seoul, Korea. Under the theme and slogan "Restoring Harmony in Aortic Valve and Root Surgery", Professor Sak Lee of Severance Hospital will serve as the Organizing Chair, and Professor Seung Hyun Lee will serve as the Program Director. A wide range of topics have been covered, and this year, we plan to invite experts from various fields to discuss various surgical techniques and treatments, offering a systematic and academic overview of the fundamentals and latest trends in aortic valve and root surgery. This year marks the fourth consecutive year of co-hosting the conference with the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS), with whom we have been honored to partner since 2023. Together, we are preparing for a premier international academic conference that brings together leading scholars in related fields from around the world. We are deeply grateful to the STS for their continued commitment and outstanding support. We will also provide opportunities to share insights on TAVI, a hot topic that requires surgeon insight. We will also engage in in-depth discussions on challenging topics in valve surgery. We will once again honor the esteemed professors Byung Chul Chang, Hyuk Ahn, Pyowon Park, Jae Won Lee, Nam Sik Chung and Jae-Kwan Song, who have previously served as hosts of the HVDF in the past. Moving Forward, the Heart Valve Disease Forum will be held in a format where major hospitals will take turns as organizing chairs, and the executive committee will be solely responsible for financial and academic support. This year’s conference will be held in person, and simultaneous interpretation will be provided throughout the two-day conference, if needed. We sincerely ask for your interest and support so that the Heart Valve Disease Forum can establish itself as a world-class academic society that sets standards and provides a healthy future for the diagnosis and treatment of valve diseases. Finally, I bow my head in respect to all our members who continue to work tirelessly on the front lines of essential medical care during these challenging times.
